Open Day, Sun 12 Sep - Come & Try Dragon Boat Racing

If you've ever thought about giving dragon boating a go, here's your chance!

Come on down to Docklands on Sunday morning 12 Sep for a free session of dragon boat racing. Then join the rest of the members of the Melbourne Flames Dragon Boat Club
for some well earned pancakes and maple syrup!

On Sunday 12 September, we are holding a free "come and try" session for people of all ages (12 to 99+) and abilities. You'll be given a safety briefing, kitted up with a paddle and a life vest and then taken out on the water with one of our coaches. It will be a gentler introduction to the sport with a chance at the end of the session for the extra keen to join in with our more experienced crew and get a feel for paddling at full speed.

After putting the boats away we'll gather on the wharf for some well deserved pancakes and maple syrup!
RSVP to enquiries@melbourneflames.
com.au by Fri 10 September to ensure we have enough food for everyone.

When: Sunday 12 September at 9:00am ( we expect to run out of pancake mix by 11:30am!)

Where: Shed 2, North Wharf Rd, Docklands, Melbourne

PS - we'll provide paddles, life jackets, boats and coaching, but you'll need to:

  • wear old clothes (long sleeve t-shirts, bike shorts are ideal + windbreaker if cold), synthetic materials are better than cotton when wet!
  • wear old trainers or paddling booties on your feet
  • bring a drink bottle filled with water
  • bring a hat and sunscreen
  • bring a change of warm and dry clothes
