Welcome to the home of the Melbourne Flames

Melbourne Flames is a Dragon Boat club based in Docklands, Melbourne. We paddle and train hard and have a lot of fun doing it. Our coach, Serghei Cucsa, is a former scientific advisor for the Soviet Union and national coach for the Australian canoeing squads and his experience is reflected in the training regime of our competitive crews.

If you've never been in a dragon boat before but are looking at getting into shape, or raising your fitness to a whole new level, our coach's programme of paddling combined with no-nonsense gym will do just that.

If you're a lover of the sport and want to compete at the highest level in Australia, then Melbourne Flames will also provide you with that opportunity!

 

Chinese New Year

We've just completed a quite successful Chinese New Year campaign. We had some good competition in a few heats, which was great to see. More importantly, the weather was fantastic, everyone had a good time, and it was a great chance for some of our newer paddlers to pick up more good race experience. We're now really on our way to the national titles in Adelaide, so now’s the time to lift our efforts in training to get ready for the biggest nationals yet!

Falls creek - a round up!

Another great Falls Creek weekend of racing was had by all those who attended. The marquee got its first official outing and was appreciated by all. Again we showed our strength and raced hard, picking up gold and silver across all categories we raced in. There are photos uploaded in the photo gallery, and video is slowly being added to the Melbourne Flames youtube channel, which you can find here.

 

Melbourne Flames Coach Appointed to Coach Team Australia

Mebourne Flames Coach Serghei Cucsa has been appointed coach for team Australia at the 2010 Asian Championships.

Training

Just a reminder that we have 4 water training sessions per week now: Tue, Wed & Thu at 6:15pm and Sunday at 8:45am.

Serge's gym is on Mondays and Fridays at 6:30pm @ $5/session.
 

Event signup

Members - you can now sign up for Events online. As you've all created your online accounts by now, why not sign up for this seasons races? You can view the events from the events page, including venue and race type information. To sign up for an event, simply click the register button.

This helps us plan for the seasons upcoming races, and its much easier than paper based lists and email.

To view the current list of events you can sign up for, click here.

You can view what events you've signed up for after you've logged in, by clicking on the My Events menu item on the user menu. You can deregister for an event from here also.
