Welcome to the home of the Melbourne Flames

Melbourne Flames is a Dragon Boat club based in Docklands, Melbourne. We paddle and train hard and have a lot of fun doing it. Our coach, Serghei Cucsa, is a former scientific advisor for the Soviet Union canoeing team and the current coach of the Australian Dragon Boat Squad and his experience is reflected in the training programme of the club.

If you've never been in a dragon boat before but are looking at getting into shape, or raising your fitness to a whole new level, our coach's programme of paddling combined with no-nonsense gym will do just that.

If you're a lover of the sport and want to compete at the highest level in Australia, then Melbourne Flames will also provide you with that opportunity!

We currently have over 80 members in the club, with ages ranging from 21 to 70. Come and see what all the fuss is about for 3 free paddling sessions - no commitment, no questions asked!

Training in September and October!

Training on Tuesday and Thursday evening is back on again!!

In preparation for the Pan Pacs at the start of November (remember to sign up now!) we're back to 3 paddling sessions every week.

Training on the water will now be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:15pm SHARP. If paddlers are going to be late, can you please let someone know so the boat can come back and pick you up without everyone having to wait around.

Sunday morning training will continue, starting at 8:45 for 9am start.

Weights sessions will drop back from 3 sessions per week to Mondays and Fridays only from 6:15pm.

Hope to see you out there!

The 2009-2010 AGM

The Melbourne Flames Dragon Boat Club Inc. 2009 - 2010 Annual General Meeting

Thanks to everyone for attending our AGM on Sunday August 22nd!

It was great to see such a good turn out for the meeting to start with, and it was even better to see that we had to vote for 3 positions! Friendly competition is what we need, and it’s what we got.

Melbourne Flames in the media again!

We pop up from time to time in local newspapers and occasionally on TV, and we've done it again!

Click here for the article on us (and Dog Paddle) as seen in the Melbourne Weekly magazine.

WIth any luck, we'll be seeing some new faces down on a sunday morning wanting to give our great sport a try, make sure they feel welcome!

Nationals - a wrap up

Nationals is over for another year! Many thanks to all those who took part. While we didn't win any medals this year, we had some amazing racing and performances. And how about that Womens team... I think the other crews will have something on their minds for next year. I don't think we have had as many great races since penrith 4 years ago! There are some photos in the photo gallery, if you have any you'd like to add, contact Ken.
